.Young Womanhood recognition.

Monday, September 28, 2009

Well now that i have a photo from Lisa i can do this post.. Plus im procrastinating because my assignment deleted and i dont wana go write it again lol.

As i said in my last post i recieved my Young Womanhood Recognition. To be able to do this you have to complete 6 value projects and a ten hour project for each of the eight values. These are the values:

I just love this thing hanging on my wall, we all made one at the young
womens new beginning night. It's above my bed!!
The hardest ten hour project that i did was to read the whole Book of Mormon, like a little kid i printed off this reading chart from the net to encourage myself to fill it up by reading more!! ;)
My personal progress book =)

My necklace was lost in the mail and i didnt recieve it at the awards dinner, but it came in time for church the next day and was presented to me in sacrament meeting. I was a bit embarrassed because there were sooo many people there!!!

Lisa made me stand for a photo with my necklace ;) I'm glad she got one though.
Isn't she talented making me stand in front of the temple there?! ;)

I decided to get a silver one because i only wear silver or white gold jewellery, not normal gold. I just love it so much, it's so pretty!!!

I am really glad that i completed everything and gained my young womanhood recognition, i strengthened my testimony so much!! =)

Thank you Lisa for the photos =)

.Deloraine Youth Awards Dinner.

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Ok, finally after waiting for over an hour these photos have all loaded up, i hope you enjoy this post because it has taken ages to load!!! lol. And after all that blogger isn't letting me arrange them!!!

On Saturday the 26th of September Deloraine had our 3rd annual youth awards dinner. Once we had found a table (they had discarded the name tags) the night started off with Bishop welcoming everyone and presenting an award while dinner was on it's way out.
Georgia Christie recieved her "faith in God" award, and that was presented to her. Im not exactly sure what you have to do though because i never went to primary but i was told it is a big achievement!!

The entre was then served which was either cauliflower or pumpkin soup (I noticed at church today we were eating the leftovers!) I didnt get a photo of the tables coz im a goose and forgot, but they looked great with white table cloths, a gold runner, yellow dafodils, gold napkins and gold stars sprinkled everywhere. All the gold was for the value of Virtue. After the entre more awards were presented. These were all presented by the stake president himself President Prebble. It was really great because he was serious enough that everyone listened to what he was saying as he presented the awards and also made a few jokes, getting everyone relaxed and happy.
As each person recieved their award, or awards, he would ask them a question or two about it or make them recite something. As Tayla went up he said "Tayla asked me specifically not to ask her any hard questions. So Tayla, what is the velocity of a airplane?"
Haha, funny man! When it was my turn he said; "So Makayla, i know that for Virtue you read the entire Book of Mormon." I said "Yes", and he said "Ok, now recite it for me.." I was like "I Nephi.." But didn't get any further luckily as everyone started clapping lol.

After some more awards the main course was served which was chicken drumsticks, potatoes and salad. I actually even got a photo of my plate full. I felt like Sister Lisa King taking photos of random things like my food!!! ;)

After this Jasmine Robbins performed a dance performance as part of the art exhibition that i had put together. I forgot to get photos coz i was too busy watching, sorry!! More awards were presented, desert was served. It was Heavenly!!! There was either chocolate, sponge or cheese cake. I was lucky enough to be passed a piece of chocolate by one of our waiters. It was so yum! Simone in the kitchen had gone a bit nuts with the raspberry sauce!!!

This is the art exhibiton that i put together. It was art work from each young women. We all had around three pieces of art each. (Bet you dont know what's mine).

Morgan with her awards for "Faith" and "Virtue"

President Prebble presenting Morgan's awards.

Bek and I discussing how much chocolate i recieved!!!

(Five blocks and a box of Forero Rochers)

Jasmine, Bek and I doing what President Prebble asked us to;

recite the Young Womens theme.

And finally these are the awards and chocolate i recieved. Don't you just love what Sister Jayne did?! The blocks of chocolate have their own special packet with the value they go with printed on them!!

All of the young women had been challenged, bribed and threatened to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. Jayne burst into happy tears when we all told her we had finished it (Apart from Tayla and she is so close!!) As a reward we were all given a box of forero rochers. Yum!

The night was really good. We were going to perform our Grease dance but someone forgot to bring the cd, and when Jayne and Morgan left to search her room, mine, Kayla and Leia Bradbury's not one copy of the cd could be found haha!

I actually recieved my young womanhood regognition which means i have finished all of the projects and a ten hour project for each value. The necklace was lost in the mail so i didn't recieve that on the night, but it was found today as it was sent to the wrong address so Bishop presented it to me in Sacrament meeting today. I was actually fairly embarrassed as President Prebble and Bishop said a few times about how i was a convert and did six years of Personal Progress in two years. I was happy that i have finished it all and recieved my neckalce, it's so pretty. Lisa King took a photo or two of me with it today at church but i'll put them on here later on when i can steal them from her! ;)

This is my certificate for recieving my young womanhood regognition.
Thank you to everyone who organised the night, and all the waiters, cooks, and to everyone who helped clean up afterwards. It was a great night.

Oh, and dont even talk to me about the layout of this post! Blogger is going nuts and wont let me add the rest of the photos or rearrange anything!!!!

.School holidays... Are OVER!!!. =(

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I bet you have all been missing my riveting blog posts this past week??!! Well, we have a new internet thingy so its all working well again!! I havnt had internet on my laptop since the 80's dance so i've got ALOT of photos to save!!!

Anyway- school holidays are over after a lovely two weeks off!!! I had a marvelous time with convention, swimming at the aquatic centre (Sorry no photos!!! Hahaha), going to the movies a few times, reading the Book of Mormon, playing basketball, doing pretty much NO homework, playing the wii (sorry no photos of this either, Bek and i were too engrossed in playing Tennis and Super Mario Kart!!! I am seriously 5 years old on the inside!!) , going rollarblading, bowling (Morgan got photos on HER camera, and they are NOT good! =P), and not working!!! Although i am fairly broke with my total savings balance right now at around $25. Im looking forward to working Friday night and Saturday to get some money!!!

Well holidays bring out some weird things in people. One day i came home and found Jory like this watching tv.

Nope, not sitting on the couch, but in fact IN the new baby bath for the new baby. I just had to take a picture he was cracking me up!
As i started playing basketball again a few weeks ago (Yeah yeah go ahead everyone laugh im used to it by now!! I used to be good you know?!) .. I thought i should get some practice in before a game. We headed to the high school a few times, Morgan the boys and I, oh and occasionally Jessam too. For some reason it will only let me upload one photo from basketball so that'll havta do for now!

Can you see why i was so overwhelmed with my school work and essentially did nothing all holidays?!!? The pile is HUGE!!!!!

I payed for it when we went back on Tuesday though as i have a million and one things to finish by next week, and this is a big weekend with me working 11-4:30 Saturday and then the awards dinner at 6! (Stay tuned for a post about how that goes)... So i am studying like mad, and finishing reading the Book of Mormon like mad so i can be finished everything (Stay tuned for a post about that too!!)
One other day i came into the family room from the lounge room and found the two boys sitting on the couch like this watching tv in their "michael jackson" hats. Jory insists his is like MJ even though it is red! He got it in Melbourne when we were there last holidays and just loves it.

The boys just love MJ, and Jory will NOT let me play any other music when he is with me in my car. His very favourite of all is Beat it and i always forget which cd it is on, but he knows what colour the cd is and what track number!! The other day we were going up the street and he said "I'm sick of Beat it, can you just put on the Jeanie song!" It took me ages to figure out what on earth he was talking about until he sang it a few times and i realised he meant "Billy Jean". Lol.

And this last photo is of Myself, Morgan and Tayla at Mowbray indoor sport and skate. Where we spend around 3 hours or so one day in the holidays. I slept SO well that night because once we left there we went swimming at the aquatic centre for another 3 hours or so. No more pictures of rollar blading shall be put onto this blog, they are just too horrible. And definately wont be appearing on anyone else's will they?! Yes i am talking to you Tayla!!!

We had fun that day when we went to the pool, Morgan and Tayla especially had fun when Dan and Jake just HAPPENED to appear there for a swim!!!
Me, i was content to play with Jory in the little kids pool, and enjoyed seeing the Kings there, i especially enjoyed it when Aaron tried to push Morgan in-the look on her face=Priceless! Oh, and we even had the opportunity to tell Lisa King just how much we love her, and even show her, with a huge hug from Tayla and myself. She would'v loved it-apart from she was all dressed already and we were dripping wet ;)

And those are some highlights from my holidays... Now im back at school and flat out! Only six weeks left for seniors!!!!!! Then exams, then the year is done!!!!!! Woohoo! =D Bring on summer holidays, and the beach, bbqs, shorts and thongs!!!!

.Makayla and Lisa.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

I bet you thought no one had any photos of the blogger queen/papparazzi from convention?!
Well I do! =D

Hehehehehehe. This is Lisa King and myself on the Saturday on the bus from swimming back to the chapel.

Lisa hates any photos of herself, but i think she looks so beautiful!!!! Don't you all agree? =)

.Reach For Excellence Day 3&4.

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

So now that i have sufficient photos i can continue to blog about convention!!! YAY!
Ok, so on Sunday morning we attended church with our billets. For Leia and I this meant morning church at the Hobart chapel, 9am. It was fast and testimony meeting which was nice, because i didnt know anyone from Hobart so it was cool to hear them get up and talk. Sunday school was very interesting with about 20 or so youth there! We had to have it in the sacrament room itself because there wasn't a room big enough. The lesson was on... something to do with developing talents.. oops i cant quite remember! That's bad!!!
Our young womens lesson was taught by the lady we were billeting with Charlotte Prebble. The lesson was about service and was absolutely fantastic-even though we had the lesson in Deloraine over three weeks ago.
After church we headed back to our billets house to chill before it was time to head to meet everyone. Now on the way home from church probably THE funniest thing i have seen in years happened. Now to get the full effect of this story you have to know a little bit about what Charlotte and Jake are like. They are a young married couple who are just wicked and expecting their first baby in like 8 months lol. When we first met them on the Friday night they took us straight to Maccas and got us some food! Then when we arrived at their house they showed us around, it went something like this: This is our room, the bathroom, toilet in there, this is the room you will stay in, sorry there's only one bed-someone will get a matress on floor, (Jake opens a random cupboard) This is our food storage-if at ANY point during your stay you are feeling slightly pekish just open this up and help yourselves...

Anyway- back to Sunday. So we are driving home from church and Jake and Charlotte are asking all about the amazing race and what park we had lunch in. Once Jake realised that the park we were describing wasn't the park near their house he decided to take us there. It was a HUGE slide-about 20m long! So of course we want to go down it in church clothes and all (this is a skirt i might add)...So we get to the top and Leia decides to go first... she is about to go down when she says "Oh- i just had a feeling to take my heals off!, nah i'll be right, what could happen im going down on my bum!" ... WELL- she gained ALOT of speed and went flying down this slide and once at the bottom her heals hit the mud and get stuck! She then flips through the air-pretty much sumersaulting and then rolling across the mud several times!! At this point her skirt is up over her head! I am at the top almost peeing with laughter and Jake and Charlotte are pretty much rolling on the grass having lost it completely! All through the rest of the day we just looked at each other and cracked up!!!

So when we met up with everyone at the chapel we went in for an opening prayer then were divided into 3 groups at random to learn a song to sing. I absolutely LOVED my song!! It was sooo wicked! I really enjoyed singing it.. Anyway, we all learnt the songs, had some dinner and desert (Where Leia broke her braces) then proceded into the chapel to have a fireside and testimony meeting. I can't remeber who opened it all (OOPS! it was a leader!!) then he gave his testimony, then a song was sung.. It was a beautiful song and everyone loved it. Then another leader gave their testimony (In my defence they are south leaders and i dont know their names!!) then the second song was sung. This one was mine. It was so beautiful and i was tearing up whilst singing! Then president Prebble from south shared his testimony and then the last song was sung- Sarah Parsons. It was sooo wicked! She wrote it herself and she had me in tears!! I think i liked Sarah's song the best and ALOT of people agree!!

President Prebble from north then shared his testimony and invited everyone to share their own. I was crying uncontrolably whilst pres P was speaking which was crazy coz it normally takes me a while to get going, but the spirit that was present from the moment the songs were sung was just amazing!!! I was getting promptings to get up first but there was no way as i was crying WAY too much!! So i waited a bit- and kept getting stronger and stronger promptings.. I was thinking to myself- nah ill just wait til the end.. BUT as you members would know-if you are ment to get up at a certain time- you are going to get up!!! The next thing i know my hands are shaking uncontrolably and then my legs started!! Bek whispered to me "You better get up there!" i was still like nah ill wait... BUT the next thing i know i have been lifted out of my seat by nothing but the spirit and since i am standing i HAVE to go up lol. Once i was up there i started crying unconrtolably again which was quite embarrassing because i REALLY wanted to get my words out! But i couldn't stop-especially when i looked at people!! So i said as much as i could and got down..
It went for about 2 and a half hours, and all the testomony's that were shared were just amazing! The spirit in the room is like nothing i had ever felt before-and i know everyone could feel it-even the nonmembers. By the end of it alot of people were crying (Not everyone, as pres P said-we all feel the spirit differently)... They closed then we all moved into the foyer for ALOT of hugs!!! It was great!!!
We then all went into the hall for some photos of everyone- which was kinda silly, we should have done it BEFORE we all bawled our eyes out!! We then were picked up by our billets and left. Well-everyone else was. I had to wait around because Leia broke her braces and had to go home so that took a while to organise.. I then went to stay with all the other Prebbles so i wasn't by myself.

Eveyone on Sunday...

Leanne, Sam, Amber, Tayla, Leia, Me and Britney...

So... We headed back to Charlotte and Jake's to pack our stuff. We got it all cleaned up-we had stuff ALL over the room! And there were snacks everywhere. Charlotte kept saying leave it i'll clean it up- BUT Leia and I are Jayne's young women and she would have NEVER allowed us to leave it how it was! So we cleaned it all, Leia left and Charlotte, Jake and i went over to the Prebble's.
This is President Prebble and his wife's house from down south. There were SO many people there! I only knew- Pres P and wife from south, Pres P and wife from north, Bek prebble, Tayla Christie, Sam Prebble, Leanne, Lizzie, Jimbo and his wife, and another couple of people!! I was pretty much falling alseep as it was about 11pm but i didnt want to go up to bed as they were trying to get the baby's to sleep up there.
I was texting Lisa King about the testimony meeting, and soon realised pres Scott was doing the same. Everytime he would get a text he would stop what he was doing and go sit down on the fireplace and sit and read it, have a giggle to himself then start texting back with one finger! I realised that Lisa and I were probably sending 5 back and forth in the time he could send one! (HAHA). I teased him he was a slow texter-(BAD MOVE!) ... It was hilarious because he didnt have a clue i was talking to Lisa and kept telling her about the day and she would say "Yeah i already know that" (he told me this) and he couldnt figure out how! LOL! (Later on he finally figured it out when i said Lisa called him a slow texter first!) He realised we were texting each other. The look on his face was hilarious!!
So we all chilled and then everyone except the people staying there left... Pres P and wife from North went to bed, Bek and Jimbo and his wife, Aimee went upstairs to chat. This left Sam, Leanne, Lizzie, and Lisa Prebble sitting on couches. And Tayla, Pres P (Scott) and I playing cards at the bench. Tayla was showing us her wicked as magic tricks and we were both just enthralled because we could NOT figure them out!!! Pres Scott P and I had a great chat-a big D&M about my conversion to the church and my family and all sorts of stuff... Everyone else just sort of listened to my fastinating tale!
Then after the clock ticked over to 12:05 making it no longer Sunday Bek, Leanne, Tayla, Sam and Lizzie decided it was time for a trip to the shop for "Dollar dogs" Which used to be hot dogs for a dollar but i am told they are now 2.50! They thought i was just being polite saying i would be the one to stay behind (because of lack of room in car) But i truthfully could NOT be bothered!!! So while they went to the shop i sat on the couch and had a big D&M with Pres Scott and Sis Lisa Prebble. About an hour later they returned from the shop, without the dollar dogs!! Aparently the man in from bought the last one so they all got ice creams-and because im not a huge fan of ice cream Tayla bought me chocolate =) We then found out the reason they took so long was because Sam was last to be served and couldn't get away from the check out boy! All the others were waiting in the car, but he just kept chatting to her =P
We all then decided it was time for bed and headed up. We then got chatting to Jimbo, his wife Aimee and Bek Prebble about who hooked up with who, who like who etc etc... This went on until about 2:30 when we finally fell asleep exhausted!
Monday morning we were meant to meet everyone at the chapel at 9am. You would think with both stake presidents in the house we would be there on time? Nope!! We woke up at like 8:15 and had to get ready and pack all our stuff. We were ready to go but then Sis Prebble (South presidents wife) wouldn't let us leave without breaky so we waited for that to cook. We left at like 9-getting to the chapel at 20 past where everyone had given up on us and were already leaving for the service project! The whole way in the car the only thing Pres P said to me was "I cant believe you said i was a slow texter!, I'll get you back!"
We finally found the place for the service project which was a forest behind... I think it was called Talousa Park... We met a lady there who showed us the different weeds we needed to pull and then got some gloves, divided ourselves into groups and got started.

Deloraine Youth before the service project.
After about ten minutes our lovely "Mormon helping hands" shirts arrived. We stuck these on and went back to work. I could NOT figure out how on earth sticks were hitting me in the head-UNTIL i looked over and saw this man!!! Doesn't he look innocent!!!

I threw a stick back (Slyly) but he picked up a log and threw that!!!!
Pres P and Maddi got in a big fight because she said he looked older than his brother but he is actually 8 years younger!!! =P
Pres P ended up completely owning Maddi who had dug a very big hole for herself!!

Everyone at work...

I love this photo. Sister Lisa Prebble took it, she came over and said "Ok, im taking a photo now, so actually pretend you are working!" Hahaha

We stopped about half way through for some water and chips... Then at the end we headed back to the chapel for lunch.
On the way back Pres P thought it would be funny to try and get me back for the slow texter comments!!! He pulled up alongside some boys walking and wound down MY window and yelled out "Hiiii" in a VERY girly voice and giggled!!! I told him i dont get embarrassed by anything (which is true) so he took this as a challange and preceeded to yell out ALOT of stuff to ALOT of poeple out MY window and they though it was me!!!
Then when we got out of the car at the chapel he yelled out "ewww! Makayla! You stink! Couldn't you have waited until we were out of the car to let that go!!" LOL. I was laughing SOOO much!
At the chapel we played some basketball then had a bbq lunch...

It was then the annual "last-day-of-convention-take-as-many-crazy-photos-as-you-can" time!

This one cracks me up coz Abraham said
"Makayla-you come next to me in this photo!"

This photo was "everyone hug Leanne!!"

This one stated with the boys trying to challenge
me to show my guns and everyone else joined in!!

Sam! She was shaking her head.
Im not sure about this- i was not a part of this =P

They made a pyramid...

Then we all layed down and got some wicked shots =)

Sometime during all this madness the Devonport people left-
but not before we got the annual last day group photo!!!

At 2 o clock we all left and headed to the bus stop. We got there and they told us we were at the wrong spot!! So we had to wait for ages and thought it was a great time to go to the shop and get fizzy drinks (reinforcements!)... Finally our bus came- we piled on, and off we went back home!!
I missed most of the happenings of the bus on the way home because as Kieran said "I was a party pooper" because i was reading my Book Of Mormon... Then i had a sleep!!!
I do believe there were some massages given-and a lot more photos taken-thankfully none of me asleep as Dan said i was drooling!! I do NOT believe him!!!
We got back to Launnie, the Town people left, Del and Westbury got onto another bus and went home...
It was a great convention. I was sad it was my last but also happy because i am ready for something new =) Next time that i am on a youth convention i will be a leader (Fingers crossed!)
And that my friends is the 2009 second Youth Convention.
We really missed Jayne and Lisa on the Sunday and Monday!!!

.Reach For Excellence-Day 1 & 2.

Monday, September 7, 2009

Friday night us youth were very priveliged to be embarking on our second Multi-Stake youth convention for the year! The Devonport people caught their own bus, but us youth from Deloraine and Launceston caught a redline bus with the public, and left at 5:30. Everyone was extremely excited and fairly hypo on the bus! We anticipated being told off by the driver at some point, but he just bagged us out over the PA system, and told Brother Allen we were the best group of teenagers he's had on the bus (Wooh!)

When we arrived in Hobart there were many members who had volunteered to pick us up and drive us to the Rosney chapel where we arrived a little late for the dance. We quickly got changed and joined in the fun. The theme was "Red Carpet" and there was a photo booth and an actual red carpet on the floor. This is the Deloraine Young Women group =) Jayne's young women!!! =)

A little into the dance our MC's Collete and Elle announced that North were going to show South the dance they had been practicing- The hoedown throwdown!! We all lined up and showed them what we could do! We absolutely LOVED the fact that our stake yw presidency, Sarah and Lisa learnt it and danced it with us too!! Sarah was next to me and i could hear her giggling the whole time, and with Lisa right behind us we were laughing because we could hear her laughing the whole time!! We LOVE her laugh, it cracks us up!

We have THE BEST leaders up North, and the ones who came were SO much fun! They all think they are still teenagers, we absolutely LOVE it!!! They were; Lisa King, Allen Robbins, Sarah Parsons, and of course our stake president, President Prebble! (I forget who else came! oops) They are all totally crazy and aren't affraid to have a bit of fun with us!! See what i mean?!

Hahahaha!

Myself, Leia and Tayla at the dance...
We had a good time at the dance, but it was NOT the same without Aaron King, our wicked MC from up North who couldn't make it! We sure missed him and his totally NOT funny jokes!!!!

After the dance we headed to our Billets house, Leia and I stayed at Jake and Charlotte Prebble's house who were totally awesome!! We stopped at Macca's on the way home, a convention tradition!

Satuday morning we were meant to meet everyone at the cenotaph at 8:30am, we were a little late as Leia and I were trying her hair extensions on me! (see facebook for pictures!)
We were divided into groups and assigned a leader for "The Amazing Race"! I was in the very best group which consisted of Sam, Fraser, Campbell, myself and Jordan... We all sighed when we were assigned our leader, Lisa King!!! Joking! We actually LOVED it, as she is fairly competitive and was all pumped and ready to go! Campell said, "Wicked! The woman who ALWAYS takes photos!"

Our group, minus our leader (The papparazzi herself!) But i got a pic of her at the dance! Mwuhahaha

She is NEVER without that camera!!

We raced around Salamanca and looked for the answers to questions on our sheet, and things to take photos of..

This is my faourite photo of us "Reaching for Excellence" !!

Our group was hilarious, we were laughing the entire time, as Campbell, being from Hobart thought he knew where most things were, which just lead us on a wild goosechase most of the time!!! Even trying to leave the park he though he had a "Shortcut" That should have been our first clue!!!
We were cracking ourselves up (As Lisa said in HER blog) because we were imagining ourselves being the group that ends up fighting because one person thinks they know what they are doing (No names here, Campbell!) or being the team that thinks they are first but really like dead last!!
I had to laugh when we arrived at the park for lunch, because Jayne's team came dead last, despite leaving ten minutes early, and she is a REALLY competitive person!!!

After the amazing race, we headed to a park to have some lunch, then walked to the pool where some people braved wearing swimming caps to have a dip! I personally was enjoying sitting on the side chatting.. That was until Bek fell asleep, and the only person left to talk to was Lisa! (Just kidding, she's cool!)
When we were done at the pool we jumped on a bus back to the chapel, which was when Lisa realised she could have gone with Jayne in her car! Haha. I have a good pic of her and I on the bus, but am waiting for Jasmine to upload it to facebook so i can steal it! At the chapel we played some board games, got changed into our church clothes and then had a fireside in honour of a couple who have foster cared for over 500 children in their life. It was very inspirational, and we loved it!

We also loved it that we conned Jayne into sitting with us Deloraine girls the whole time! She loved it! Though i did suspect she was going to pinch me at one point because i got the giggles with Bek. Oops! She also kept yawning the whole way through and when i asked her why she was so tired she blamed it on Lisa with whom she had shared a hotel with the night before, and claimed that Lisa wouldn't stop talking until very early in the morning! I asked her but she denied it! =P Sadly Jayne, Lisa and Sasha left that night and missed out on all the happenings of Sunday and Monday, but we kept them updated by text!

Sunday and Monday were great, but stay tuned as i will need a whole other blog post for that! Plus i am waiting to steal some of Kieran's photos! hehehe!
