Melbourne

This month i spent a great week over in Melbourne. I went over for a photography tutorial which i will blog about later and also to go to the Temple.
I had a nice time and will blog about the trip in different posts.

Ashlee and Abby dropped me to airport, and Abby was so cute wanting to come along too :)

Wasting the time away playing on iphones - which almost made me miss my flight! But i made it in the end :p

Half way to 40

On Australia Day i turned 20... I had a nice day at work making people sandwhiches ;) I was in a rush to go to work at 6am and didn't check my phone or facebook and completely forgot that it was my birthday until i was writing some dates on the preps at work and said out loud 'it's my birthday!' and my boss and i just looked at each other :)

I was saddened that night when i learned of the death of a very dear friend
But my birthday up to that point was a great day - i felt very loved with all the texts, calls, messages and pressies.

I was given a sewing machine from my family and am so excited to try it out! I haven't had time yet but i can't wait, i can tell it is going to be something i am going to be addicted to!

My birthday pavlova - Very Australian! :)

I am SO sick of being hit with nerf gun bullets!!! :)

He's still a baby!

Love his cute happy face :D

A few weeks after my birthday i went out to tea with some friends to the pizza pub. We had lots of laughs and the most delicious pizza EVER. It was fun :)

I had a nice day but the whole day i couldn't stop thinking about the fact that i am now 20. Which is half way to 40! I think about what i have achieved in my 20 years so far and how many goals i want to achieve before i hit 40. 20 years seems to have gone so fast and i can only imagine that the next 20 will go just as fast, if not faster.

I realised that i need to take advantage of each day and enjoy it as it comes. Grab hold of each opportunity as it comes by - otherwise i might miss it.

In reflecting on what i have learned in my 20 years one thing sticks out - something that my Papa has said to me countless times:

'You can't wish your life away, hen.'

he's right - life is too short, i need to stop wishing and start living :)

Happy birthday to me :)

Dear Aaron...

... How is it in Heaven? I hope you are hugging Angel Noah on behalf of all of us.
This is just a little letter to say a few things i wish i had said before you left this Earth.

First of all - it was a privilege to know you. You are by far one of the funniest people i have ever met. Thanks for all the laughs! Even the ones that were at my expense :)
Thank you for being a great example of a father and a husband, and for displaying qualities that i am hoping for in my own future husband and father of my children one day.
Thank you for living up to your priesthood responsibilities and for the time that i was sick and you gave me a blessing.
Thank you for inviting me into your home on numerous occasions.
Thank you for teaching me about my computer and photoshop.
Thank you for teasing me about everything under the sun and for making me laugh.

I didn't speak to you as much as i speak to your wife Lisa, but i thank you for the last conversation that we had on Lisa's iphone. It was hilarious and had me in stitches at work. I will always remember it :)

My heart is breaking for Lisa, Jalen, Harri and Kobe, and it doesn't seem fair that you have left this Earth so soon. The pain is enormous for everyone but i am thankful to know Heavenly Father's plan for us, and that Families are Forever. You must have something special to be doing with Noah.
People are being very generous to your family and have donated some money to help ease their financial burden a little in the coming months. An auction is also being held on behalf of them.

I am going to do my best to be the friend that Lisa needs now, and in the years to come.
I hope you are having fun with Noah!
Love, Makayla

Life Update

Saturday, November 19, 2011

This past week was a busy one. But i have finally finished TAFE for the year (Woohoo!!!) :D

I have started working at Subway, which is really fun :)

Wednesday night i went to see Jalen King as 'James' in James and the Giant Peach. The show was good and Jalen was fantastic!

Thursday i went to TAFE and finished off my end of year project. It was all up on the wall, done and dusted. (it all fell off a few hours later but at least it was done).

Also on Thursday Ashlee and I went and donated some blood, which was fun :)

Friday morning i dropped Asha and Jory off to Nana and Papa's while i went to TAFE.

When i went back to pick them up i found Asha and Papa asleep in the chair, SO cute!

When i took them to the supermarket Asha jammed himself into the tiny part at the end of the trolly.

On Saturday morning Simone, Kiara and I headed off to meet up with Mum, Peta, Morgan, Gracie and Chey in Hobart. We went to Gold Class to watch Breaking Dawn part 1. It was really well done and a good movie. We had a fun day and really enjoyed it :)

I am SO glad that TAFE is over now and am looking forward to a few months off from studying. I am keen to relax and actually read a book! (And maybe catch up on some photo editing) :p
